The Almalyk branch of the Tashkent State Technical University named after Islam Karimov, created on the site of the Almalyk Mining and Metallurgy Faculty of the Navoi State Mining Institute, has its own glorious history. The progressive reforms being carried out today in all spheres are yielding results in the system of higher education.

In the 50s of the last century, large deposits of minerals were discovered in Uzbekistan, their extraction was planned, the construction of processing plants and metallurgical plants, the implementation of this plan was launched in the 1960s. In particular, the Almalyk mining and smelting plant, the Chodak, Angren, Marzhonbulak deposits and ore dressing factories belonging to the Uzbekaltyn association, and later the Navoi mining and smelting plant were created. During this period, the Bekabad metallurgical plant, the Chirchik refractory plant and the plant for the production of sparingly soluble metals (tungsten and molybdenum) functioned. The training of specialists to work at these mines, factories, factories – engineers, miners, concentrators and metallurgists – has become a requirement of the time. This task was dealt with by the mining department of the Tashkent Polytechnic Institute (now the Tashkent State Technical University). Since 1961, at the Almalyk Mining and Metallurgical Faculty, students began to study on the job in the evening education system.

In September 1963, the full-time mining and metallurgical faculty of the Tashkent Polytechnic Institute was transferred to the city of Almalyk with the aim of subsequent transfer of higher educational institutions to areas adjacent to industrial enterprises. In September 1967, the full-time department of the Almalyk Mining and Metallurgy Faculty was again transferred to Tashkent. And in the city of Almalyk, the evening Almalyk mining and metallurgical faculty of Tashkent Polytechnic Institute was organized, which included students of the evening department. The departments of specialties “Metallurgy of non-ferrous metals”, “Technology of mining in an open way” and all other departments were transferred to the specialized departments of the Mining and Metallurgical Faculty of Tashkent. minerals”, “General engineering”, “Foreign languages” and “Industrial construction”.

The evening faculty of Almalyk functioned from 1967 to 1995. In 1995, faculties and branches of Tashkent universities in other cities and regions were liquidated. Including Almalyk faculty.

In 2001, the Almalyk Mining and Metallurgical Faculty of the Navoi State Mining Institute was opened. The departments “Mining Electromechanics”, “Social Sciences” functioned at the faculty, personnel were trained in the areas of “Mining”, “Mining Electromechanics”, “Metallurgy”.

At the initiative of the President of our country Shavkat Mirziyoyev, in accordance with the Decree “On measures to improve the system of training engineering and technical personnel for the industrial production sector in the Tashkent region” dated July 27, 2017, the Almalyk branch of the Tashkent State Technical University named after Islam Karimov was established. In accordance with this decision, the faculties “Mining and Metallurgy”, “Power Engineering and Mechanical Engineering” began to function in the branch. The Faculty of Mining and Metallurgy includes the Departments of Mining, Metallurgy, General Sciences, and the Faculty of Energy and Mechanical Engineering includes the Departments of Electrical Engineering, Electromechanics and Electrical Engineering, Chemical Technology, Mechanical Engineering Technology “.

The teaching staff of the AF TSTU have their own areas of scientific research, publish scientific articles, teaching aids and textbooks in a timely manner. Dissertation defenses are also successfully carried out within the framework of scientific research. Last year, four professors-teachers successfully defended dissertations and received a Ph.D. This year, the research work of four more professors-teachers has been completed, and the defense of dissertations is defined as the main goal. Education is an important issue not only today, but also determines the future of each state. Raising the worldview, legal literacy of student youth, a full explanation of the essence and meaning of the reforms being carried out in the republic in the political, legal, social and economic spheres is the main work of the entire teaching staff. Education of young people in the spirit of love for the Motherland, raising the level of knowledge and skills of students, raising the level of their professional training is under the constant attention of our professors and teachers.
