A delegation led by the director of the Institute of Iron and Steel Technology of the Freiberg Mining Academy of Germany, Olenya Volkova, visited the Almalyk branch of TSTU.
During the visit, a dialogue took place with representatives of the metallurgical industry and the higher education system, during which issues of short-term and long-term advanced training of local specialists in Germany, organization of internships, master’s and doctoral studies were discussed.
There was also an exchange of views on industry issues in the field of metallurgy, foundry production, materials science and processing of industrial waste.
For reference, the Mining Academy of the Technical University of Freiberg (Technische Universitat bergakademie freiberg) was founded in 1765 as the Freiberg Mining University, renamed in 1993 to the Freiberg Mining Academy. It is considered one of the oldest educational institutions in the world in the field of mining education.
The activities of this university cover the entire technological process from geological exploration of new deposits, environmentally friendly technologies for the extraction and processing of minerals to the development of alternative energy technologies, recycling of raw materials and waste from the mining industry, reuse and creation of new types of products.
The university is one of the ten largest universities in Germany in the field of research and development. It is the only university in Europe that has its own mining quarry. The Mining Academy of the Technical University of Freiberg cooperates with 274 educational institutions in 74 countries.
