Information about The Faculty of Mining and Metallurgy
In the 1950s, large deposits of non-ferrous metals were discovered in Uzbekistan, and it is planned to build them, build concentrators and metallurgical plants, and in the 1960s this work began. In particular, Almalyk Mining and Metallurgical Combine, Chodak, Angren, Marjanbulak deposits and ore processing plants of the Uzbekoltin Association, and Navoi Mining and Metallurgical Combine have been established in the western part of the country.
During this period, Bekabad Metallurgical Plant and Chirchik Plant for the production of refractory and refractory metals (tungsten and molybdenum) were operating. The training of engineers-miners, concentrators and metallurgists to work in these fields, factories and plants became a requirement of the time, and this task was carried out by Tashkent Polytechnic Institute (now Tashkent State Technical University), Faculty of Mining and Metallurgy.
From 1958 to 1961, the chairman of the city planning committee Yu.S.Petrosov was the head of the consulting center of TashPI, which was opened in Almalyk. In 1961, Almalyk Consulting Center was transformed into Almalyk Mining and Metallurgy Faculty. AP Turchin was appointed the first dean of Almalyk Mining and Metallurgical Faculty and held this position until 1963. In accordance with the decision of the former Soviet leader "Higher education should be relocated to areas close to industrial enterprises", the full-time "Faculty of Mining and Metallurgy" of Tashkent Polytechnic Institute was moved to Almalyk in September 1963 and Isomukhamedov was appointed as a dean.
In September 1967, the full-time department of Almalyk Mining and Metallurgical Faculty was relocated to Tashkent. Isomukhammedov was transferred to TashPI as Vice-Rector for Academic Affairs. In Almalyk, the part-time Almalyk Mining and Metallurgy Faculty of TashPI was established, keeping the students of the part-time department. Specialty departments "Metallurgy of non-ferrous metals", "Technology of opencast mining" and all other departments were transformed into "Cycle" and remained at the disposal of specialty departments of the Faculty of Mining and Metallurgy in Tashkent. The departments of "Mineral Enrichment", "Marxism-Leninism", "General Engineering", "Foreign Languages" and "Industrial Construction" were established as independent departments to the part-time Almalyk Mining and Metallurgical Faculty. The department of "Mineral Enrichment" was headed by Associate Professor VNChazov, then by M.Askarov.
The part-time Almalyk Faculty of Mining and Metallurgy functioned from 1963 to 1995. In 1963-1967 I.Inagamov, in 1967-1976 J.C.Jaymugammedov, in 1976-1981 I.I.Inagamov, in 1981-1993 AAYusupkhodjaev, in 1993-1998 M.M.Kholmatov were the deans of the faculty. By the Presidential Decree of June 3, 1995, the faculties and branches of the part-time departments of higher education institutions in the provinces were abolished. Including Almalyk faculty.
Taking into account the proposals of the Director of Almalyk Mining and Metallurgical Combine and the governor of Almalyk and the protocol of the 4th meeting of the State Commission on Admission to Educational Institutions of July 18, 2001, the decision of the Scientific Council of Navoi State Mining Institute by the order of the rector of the State Mining Institute No. 1/68 of August 2, 2001, the full-time faculty of "Almalyk Mining and Metallurgy" of Navoi State Mining Institute was opened in Almalyk. Associate Professor E.H.Khakimov was appointed as the head of the department. Senior lecturer of the department of "Humanities" Z.T. Khudaiberdieva was appointed as the head of the department.
In September 2004, three departments were opened: Mining and Electrical Mechanics and Metallurgy and Mineral Processing. Professor S. Abdurahmanov was appointed as the head of the department "Metallurgy and Mineral Processing". In 2010, the department was renamed to "Metallurgy and Chemical Technology" due to the admission of students in the field of "Chemical Technology" and the training of specialists in this field was entrusted to the Department of "Metallurgy and Mineral Processing".
